MMC 2100 Writing for Mass Communications I

This course focuses on producing copy for mass media, addressing the shifting modes of communication in the digital information age, exploring the divergence of newspapers, magazines, radio, television, public relations, advertising etc. to the internet/social media. It considers a wide variety of story forms like photojournalism, podcasts, cartooning, long form journalism, editorial essays, PSAs, etc with an emphasis on the value of ethics and empathy in gathering and portraying information.
